Strawberry Cheese Cake ; My Favorite Food!

Strawberry Cheesecake
Cheesecake is my number one of my favorite deserts that I have tasted when I have been here for only a couple of years. I just tried for the first time on my friend Yasmeen's 19th birthday. It tasted so good, it honestly was so amazing. I have to mention this is my very favorite recipe that I have tasted by far. Strawberries are not only delicious they are also very healthy as well. It nourishes your skin and keeps it looking  flawless. This creamy strawberry cheesecake is perfect for any special occasion! You can make it for any occasion. Like weddings, baby showers, birthday parties or just a night out at the most amazing restaurants around the province. The one I tasted was at Jack Astor's right beside Scarborough Town Center. I got for $7.99. That was the best thing I've tasted in that restaurant. I didn't like anything else. If I ever plan on going again in my life, I'm probably going to just order three cheesecakes for my starter main and desert entrees. LOL! You guys should totally try it. Who ever is reading this and has no idea what strawberry cheesecake, you are missing out on all the fun.

Jack Astor's Fish & Chips

Above I've provided a picture of fish and fries with tartar sauce on the side that I ordered at Jack Astor's for my friend Rabiga's 18th birthday last year. I just found this picture hiding in my e-mail and I thought I could talk about this. To be honest as a little girl I hated fish with a passion. I would hate the taste, the smell and especially how it looks. For a couple of years I avoided fish, but I come to understand that fish is actually pretty healthy and it consists of omega-3 fatty acids which are actually beneficial to the human body. Back to my fish and fries. This meal reminded me of McDonald's Filet O' Fish sandwich which is fried fish topped with tartar sauce and placed in between two buns. The only difference compared to this dish was that there was no hamburger buns. The fish was nice and crispy and when I dipped it in the tartar sauce it made it so delicious. I squeezed some lemon on the fish to have a sour taste to the fish, but it never really worked out because I dropped it on the ground.  For desert I had the smallest, but most delicious brownie in the whole wide world. It was so small that the whole thing could fit my mouth. I forgot the name of it, but I think it was called, “double chocolate fudge brownie”. The plate was drizzled with  caramel and fudge, to make the presentation look good. Although the brownie was small it was worth it. And guess what guys it was only 99 cents. So you guys got nothing to lose, come try the cheapest, but yet most delicious brownie you’ll ever taste!

I WENT TO A CHINESE RESTAURANT ... (8)

This is my Thursday lunch with my friends at Spicy Dragon Restaurant located right at the intersection of Kennedy and Lawerence. It is spicy noodles with spicy fried chicken balls and a vegetable spring roll. It was so hot and spicy. I mixed the noodles in plum sauce because my friend said it will taste even better. The noodles consisted of onions and carrots. And as for the vegetable spring roll, it had rice, peas and strips of onion in it. The spring roll wasn't spicy at all. I ordered this because I love chinese food first of all and I love spicy food. Since I'm from Sri Lanka, we use numerous spices for many famous foods. Such as; kothu roti, sambal and chicken briyani. I've adapted to their eating lifestlye since I was born there so I began to love spicy hot food. And since I got tired of rice and curry, I thought I should try spicy food of a different culture. In this case, I chose Chinese. Honestly, the best Chinese foods are at these restaurants including; Spicy Dragon, Kimling and Lucky. I'm sorry to be biased, but the Chinese food I've tasted at these places are all so delicious. I'm not able to chose a favorite restaurant. If you guys want this particular dish that I had for lunch I got it at Spicy Dragon for only approximately $8. Enjoy hot Chinese food lovers ! :)

Bannana & Strawberry Smoothie

As you see in the picture above there is a banana and a smoothie. This was inspired to me by Mr. Stephenson. He would make strawberry and banana smoothie or blueberry smoothie every morning for the breakfast club. I always wanted to try making it one day, and finally I got a chance to. When I came home from school, I walked in my kitchen. And I noticed a bunch of bananas that were in a bowl on my kitchen table, and I remembered that I bought three packs of strawberries. My mom’s favourite fruit was bananas so that’s the only thing you would probably see most of in my kitchen. Anyways I was planning to make banana and strawberry smoothie so I took out my blender. And I took about three bananas. I peeled the bananas and put them in the blender. Next was the strawberries, I sliced the stem off and through it in the garbage but with the rest of the strawberry I washed it and then sliced them in half and inserted it in the blender.  After it is blended into a creamy liquid I put three spoons of sugar. I poured the smoothie into my glass. It wasn’t as sweet as I expected it to be, but it didn’t taste horrible. On the side I had a banana. The next type of smoothie that I want to make is blueberry. I’m so excited!

My own Recipe on how to make Strawberry & Banana Smoothie :
(use a blender of course)
Steps
*pick out your Strawberries(a few)/ Bananas(3)
* Wash the Strawberries
* Remove Banana peel/ Strawberry stems
*3 tables of sugar or you can add honey for that extra flavour
* Blend everything until it is all smooth and ready to drink
-- Enjoy—

Kensington Market Trip

I and my food and nutrition class went on a class trip to Kensington Market. When we went there we enjoyed a vegan meal organized by a couple of vegan volunteers. We participated in making the meal. We were organized in three different groups. One group was in charge of making kale and dressing it with sauce. Another group was in charge of making the squash drizzled with salt and pepper, and then the last group was in charge of the brownies made from kidney beans. The group I was in was in charge of preparing the squash. We first chopped up the squash into cubes and then placed them on a pan drizzled with olive oil. To make the squash have some more flavor on it we put pepper and salt on them. After that the last thing we did was insert in the oven till the squash was nice and tender. I was surprised by many things when I ate the meal. One thing that I was surprised was that the brownie was made not from eggs, it was made by kidney beans. When I actually tasted it, it tasted exactly like normal brownies.  You would not be able to taste any beans in them. Until my friend Aaron told me about what they made the brownies out of, I just thought it was normal ingredients like; eggs, flour and such. As a whole I really loved the squash and the brownies, but I hated the kale. I think it was because I’m not a fan of salad and I don’t eat much leaves in my diet. Surprisingly, many people enjoyed the kale.
